grad>undergrad

so here it is. graduation. finally snagged the bachelor's. after 4 years of hard work. after 8 semesters. i get to graduate..but, im still hungry.

you know, i know ive had numerous entries regarding how graduation or this undergrad in general is not a big deal to me,but i just cant reiterate it enough.

while other ppl are celebrating by putting up statuses such as "graduation in less than 6 hours!" or "we can do this batch 2011! we did it for 4 years. we can do it until the board exams."..i think you get the idea..so anyways, while everyone is doing something similar to that, im on my facebook group page that's for fatima medical students. and networking with them. establish potential residence spots, potential roommates, class schedules, study groups are being formulated, and strategies regarding book buying.

some may call me a killjoy, pessimist, or partypooper, which pretty much mean the same thing. or they might think that i think that im too cool for this graduation thing. and honestly, im not. im thrilled as much as anyone else, but this is not my last stop.

make no mistake. i feel good, happy, and all that other stuff ppl should feel when theyve accomplished something.  but there are bigger things happening than this graduation. im finally reaching my end-game.

there's this quote i like to use a lot.  it goes,

"I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday."

the author is unknown though..so let's just say i said it..hahaha.

congrats to my batch..2011.

being cum laude

so, ill get straight to the point. i graduate tomorrow. and i graduate cum laude. i have no idea how i did it. i just did. i only recently found out about this cum laude stuff a few months before graduation. ppl started asking me if i was eligible. and i would always say, "i have no clue." and i honestly didnt. so out of curiosity, i decided to calculate my grades..and sure enough i was eligible for cum lade status.

it's kind of hard for me to swallow..coz if you guys know my past, you know back when i was grade school, high school, and first two years of college, i was extremely lazy. i made a sloth look like an effin cheetah. and to actually receive this award is pretty surreal. [to all the geniuses out there reading this and thinking cum laude is not big deal, you guys can go stick your thumb in your butt] i mean i never really thought about achieving that status. it never crossed my mind.

i guess for me..awards, scholarships and all that meant nothing to me. those things didnt motivate me to study hard at all..the thing that motivated me the most was the fact that i was capable of getting those grades. that i had the potential to become a better person, a hardworking individual. cum laude? pshhh..i could care less about it.

but that doesnt mean i cant smile about it.

hopefully i can keep this up.

im gonna try to blog more often and try to make an interesting entry each time i do..but i dont think ill be able to do that. haha. well..here's for trying.

so im about to shower right? and then i open the shower curtain and i see two little girls all bloodied up holding knives!!!! just playing! haha..if you guys have seen the shining, then youre familiar with those girls..so anyways, real talk

so im about to shower and when i open the shower curtain, i see a dead cockroach on one end of the shower..so im like "whatever it's dead." so i dont even attempt to nudge it with my flip flop. so yeah..i cont. my showering..and i shampoo my awesome hair and all that..then as im rinsing my hair, i feel some sensation on my leg..[and of course we all know we close our eyes when we rinse the shampoo out of hair in an attempt to feel like we're in a commercial or we had a horrible experience with shampoo getting in our eyes] but my eyes are closed, so i assume it's just water trickling down my leg..so i go about rinsing..and i start to feel like the sensation moving upwards..im like.."uhm..wth?" so i rinse my eyes once i open my eyes..im automatically facing one corner of the shower, where the damn dead cockroach should be..so i connect them together..and im like, "ah hell na!" [kinda like will smith when he says it bad boys]..and i look at my leg and there it is..the damn cockroach..the zombie cockroach, if you will. it's crawling up my leg..and im like eff this..so i start shaking my leg like im havin fkn grand-mal seizure and the cockroach flies off..this time i make sure to kill it...i stomp on it with flip flop..and i hear the crunchy sound all cockroaches make when you have taken their soul like shang sung from mortal kombat...the end.

this is an accurate representation of the cockroach i conquered.

the answer is no.

I've heard it many times.. "med school pa?! D ka nasasawa sa studying?"  it basically means, "med school still? arent you tired of studying?"

And my answer is usually just a smile or a laugh. It never really crossed my mind that studying was a burden. I mean don't get me wrong, I had my moments in high school and a couple years in college where studying was more of a punishment if anything.

But that all changed when I hit the nursing proper. When we started pathophysiology, pharmacology, and all that other stuff. After that, I just got more and more hungry. I loved learning all that stuff. While others were whining and complaining about how complicated this disease was, I was just enjoying my time reading about it. Shoooot, I even would go further into the disease. I would google it to find more.

Gahh, this entry sounded really awesome in my head when I was formulating it, but alas, it sucks when I start to put on paper.

Point is, no. I'm not tired of studying.  I consider it a privilege to further ones knowledge.

tables turning

so...about 6-7 years ago..i never thought i would be in this position.  this road..this path.  it's crazy how things turn out., you know? 6-7 years ago..i was thinkin about just going to college then finishing up nursing..and just working..but now im on my way to becoming a physician.

i recently found out about some stuff regarding some ppl close to me..and how they arent doing anything with their lives..w/c is ironic..they went to top school in the US..graduated a year early..and the parents even poured in hella money into the school [coz it's an expensive school] and NOW i find out..theyre not gonna continue with the plans that were made..why am i surprised? ill tell you why..

not too long ago..these ppl were the prize children of some people..they would show-boat them off to other parents..telling everyone how great their kids were and all that..and that they were gonna make it big...long story short..those ppl are eating their words..and i dk if i should feel sorry for them..or just snicker a little bit....well..enough of that.

----------------------

i havent blogged about anything in a long time regarding myself. so hmm..medical school..i keep thinking about it..and i told my mom that..and she told me to blog about it..so here goes:

the envy i feel whenever i see 4th year medical students roaming the halls around hospitals cannot be measured.  when i see them falling asleep while charting on the table..it makes me jealous..it makes me want to get to that level.

i am ready for medical school..i am ready for the sleepless nights. i dk..i feel like this is my destiny..i may be over-acting about it..but that's how i really feel..it's like..i can
picture myself already doing the stuff docs are supposed to do..call it arrogance..call it over-ambition...call it whatever you want..either way..i feel like im gonna a damn good doc..i know im gonna do well..

hayy..i just hope that my significant other can have enough patience for me while im in medical school..because make no mistake..it is very intense...anyways..i was supposed to blog more, but im tired na..haha.
